it never found a distributer. people don't realize that the controversial scene was only about 2 minutes of a 90 minute movie. i didn't realize that the pmrc took over lazygirls. |

It might have made for a powerful scene, but she is still so young. I'm more than willing to wait. Just like others (Emma Watson) it'll be worth it. |

Actually the movie recently found a limited US distribution and will be released in select cities in under a month, July 18 to be exact. At least according to the IMDB. |

 i am a dakota fan but i'm on the fences as to whether i'll see this movie or not... i'm sure there will be tons of negative publicity for dakota n that film come september....i'll wait n see what critics n people say then.....
supposedly dakota n her people thought this film to be a way to get dakota n oscar... in one review i read dakotas performance was very powerful and she handled the role with great maturity...mostly i read the movie is poorly written n directed.

I posted a write up about the movie and its sexual content a bit ago. Check that out if you want to know the lowdown on just how sexual it was. The short is that it felt so neutered that it didn't make the impact it could have. I don't find anything sexual about a pre-pubescent twelve year old, and definitely not her getting raped, but the scene was so quick and so dark that it didn't have the effect of some other movie rape scenes. Personally I would have liked to see a body double used to get a little more graphic. Honestly if someone didn't know you might not even realize the character was raped the scene is just so confusing and vague. In all honesty, all the controversy was for nothing. There was nothing even remotely exploitative about this film, unless you count Dakota in her underwear for about half the movie. But that was not in a sexual way.
Also the supposed make out scene in the barn was merely implied, and the supposed scene where she looks at herself naked in a mirror was not present either. There was no sex or nudity in this film from Dakota. Hope that clears things up for people. |
