If you get 3 points (good idea) for every uploaded pic you should get the 3 points for all images you have uploaded, not just 1p for previous uploaded images and 3p for images you upload after Sam decides to change this system.
Maybe this is what you guys want too, im just writing this so it doesn't end up that way.

If everyone got there points updated with a new points system, There would be alot of 7 and 8 star members going right to 10 star member... that would be to much!
I looked at the FAQ, did not see any real difference between 7 and 10 star member rewards. It's only when you get from below 7 and then get equal to or above it that you get the free lifetime zero advertisements subscription. So the problem of going from 7 or 8 to 10 is?

I think its good and fair if all images counts, and it would be nice if someone gets 10stars after the update.
//edit- just did some fast calculating on the members with 8 stars atm and this is my result:
fuel stays on 8 stars
huhn gets from just over 8stars to just over 9stars
wolf gets from just over 8stars to right in between 9 and 10 stars.
same with carey
So no-one goes to 10 stars, some of the 7 stars will go to 8stars and so on.

only for the record: Carey would have over 75000 points as leader when Sam would give 3 points for all pics retroactively. so he's still far away from the 10 stars.
i agree with you that we should get 3 points for each new pic we upload. when we link pics, other people do the work for us by clicking them and we get 10 points with help from others. but when we do the work ourselves we get just one...that doesn't really make sense. i really hope sam changes the star points so that we can get 3 points instead of just 1
But linking is a pain. If referrals didn't have 10pts many wouldn't link pics. Not me anyway. The thing is that you need to find a really active site, that allow linking from sites like lazygirls (banned on many forums). Some links stays on 2 or 3 clicks and the effort is for nothing. On some sites you need to get 50 forum post before you can do something on the site and so on. Big sites uses this to make newcomers more involve in the site.
If you just go to a site and write check this out and a link. Not that many will click on it. You get my point?

Yeah, if we'll get more points by adding pics, we should get more points reporting pics too. If not, the double problem will be bigger than ever. Ppl will start adding a lot of pics (coz it gives nice starpoints). Don't bother looking through folders wich makes a larger possibility that a double is added. If you only get 1pt for search you butt off to clean a folder, not that many will do that. and then we'll have tons of doubles laying around in folders. The folders will grow and make even less members willing to check them.
If the point for adding a pic gonna get higher. 2 should be the best. But as I wrote before, we need to get more points for reporting pics aswell. maybe 2 or 3 points.
i say it should be two points, three seems a little too high (doubling the points is enough), but i also agree that reported images and doubles should be honored more. make them worth 10+ points, so we can have more people cleaning out the folders

If the penalty for penalty & reward for doubles was more severe than the reward for upolading a pic, more members would take the time to check folders first. Points & rewards are a privilage here @ lazygirls. As I've said before,"It's one of the things that makes lazygirls different & better than other sites." If it were any easier to get a free lifetime membership that would be a sad day. Give us 2 points for reporting doubles, & please leave the rest alone.

I'm sorry to make all "3 point" voters disappointed now but as I wrote before...If we get more starpoints when when we add a pic, it can start an evil domino effect.

And then to correct our mistake, we change so we are given more starpoints when we report a pic, to make more members hunt down the doubles. It will become much easier to climb in the rank and I don't think I want it to be that way.

The thing is that posting in the forum makes members involved more and the site active. But I can't say it's a fair comparison.
Lets change the points given when you report a picture instead. At least to start with. And as we talk about in this thread

how about deducting points from double uploaders. every time someone reports an image to be a double, the user that uploaded that double gets 1 point taken away for uploading that double. and the same thing could go with violating the TOS rules
